Step 1.  Start Variations2

• (Windows PC)
  On the STC PCs in the Music Library, Variations2 is located in the same "Music" menu with the other departmentally sponsored software such as Finale and Sibelius.  To find it, click on Start -> Programs -> Departmentally Sponsored -> Music -> Variations2 Digital Music Library. If you've installed Variations2 yourself, Variations2 should be in its own folder in your Start menu, and a shortcut to start Variations2 should be on your desktop.
Variations2 can be accessed from the start menu. To find it, click on Start -> Programs -> (find the appropriate folder) -> Variations2 Digital Music Library.

• (Mac)
  On the OS-X Macs in the Music Library, start Variations2 by clicking on the Departmentally Sponsored icon in the dock to open the Departmentally Sponsored window. In that window, double-click the Variations2 icon.
  
  If you've installed Variations2 yourself, the Variations2 program icon will be in your Applications folder or wherever you installed it.

Step 2.  Login with your IU network ID and passphrase

• After several moments, the Variations2 login window will appear:

• In the "User Name" field, enter your IU network ID.
• In the "password" field, enter your IU network passphrase.
• Press the "Login" button. After several moments, the Variations2 search window will appear.

If the login window does not accept your normal IU user name and passphrase, you may need to reset your IU passphrase at http://passphrase.iu.edu/.

An Alternative:  Hyperlink Access

A particular spot in a Variations2 item can be accessed directly from a hyperlink.  If you click on one of these links or on a Variations2 bookmark that has been exported to a web page, you will start Variations2.  After you log in, the audio or score you requested will be presented.
